Questions, answered

The questions that come up while looking for Black Ops, in roughly the order they come up. The mirror list sits above, because most of the answers point back at it.

Copy one address, paste it into the Tor Browser, and compare the last six characters against what landed in the address bar. If one will not connect, build a new circuit and take the next. Why an onion refuses to load.

Where is the Black Ops address?

The three public mirrors sit at the top of every page. Copy one, paste it into the Tor Browser, wait out the circuit, and check the last six characters of the address bar against the list before you log in.

Are the three addresses different markets?

No. Same market, three front nodes. Same accounts, same escrow, same order history. If one address is slow on your circuit, the next one is the next one; there is no primary and no fallback.

One address will not load. Is it down?

Usually it is a circuit problem, not a market problem. Wait it out, build a new circuit, then take the next address. A real outage is announced as a signed post on the market Dread board, and an address change lands there too.

What is the captcha I have to solve first?

The market entry filter: a night city image with circles and squares, and you click the shape that has a cut in it. Thirty seconds, and it refreshes when the timer runs out. It is there because the login page is the most copied page of its kind, and the captcha keeps scripts out before they see a password field.

Do I need PGP before I can use the market?

To register, yes, because the key you paste at signup is the address all market mail goes to, and recovery works through that mail. To browse and look at listings, no. Generate the keypair first, because every later step assumes it exists.

What does the market cost to use?

The schedule is published inside the market, in the information section, and it can change with an announcement. The stable shape: deposits are free, withdrawals carry a fee with a flat and a percentage part, and each completed order carries a small percentage.

Can I use a clearnet proxy instead of Tor?

You can, and the gateway reads everything between you and the market, password included, and can show you a copy of the market instead of the market. Tor Browser is the path where the only reader of your traffic is the market itself.

The address I had stopped working. What now?

Addresses change, and the old one does not announce it, it just stops answering. The current list is at the top of this page, and the signed list on the market Dread board is the source it is kept in sync with.

A message said my account needs re verification. Is that the market?

Verify the address before you believe the message. The market verifies you through PGP, a signed code you sign back, not through a link and a familiar looking form. A link in a message is the phisher's delivery method, not the market's.

How do I report a fake mirror?

Two places: the market Dread board, where confirmed fakes are posted to the public list, and PGP support, for the ones you are not sure about yet. A fake that is reported becomes a line in the list, and the list is what the next person finds.

The short version of all of it

Copy one of the three addresses, paste it into the Tor Browser, wait for the circuit, read the last six characters back, solve the shape captcha, and log in at the address you checked. PGP and 2FA protect the account; the address protects you from the page. Everything on the verification page exists to make that last step boring.
